The 10th European Association of Clinical Anatomy


European Association of the Clinical Anatomy (EACA) is the biennial event of European even global anatomy and clinical anatomy field. It is attractive to the anatomists and clinical staffs all over the world. The 10th congress of EACA was held in Istanbul Turkey on September 2-5, 2009. There were more than 400 anatomists and clinical staffs coming from 37countries present at the congress. The conference sincerely invited some famous anatomical and clinical scholars did some special lectures, such as famous anatomist Professor Keith L. Moore from University of Toronto, Professor Mayo Clinic, Dr. Stephen W. Carmichael who is chief editor of "Clinical Anatomy"and so on.


Professor Liu Shuwei from Shandong University School of Medicine who represented the Chinese Society for Anatomical Sciences was invited to the pageant. He is the executive member of Chinese Society for Anatomical Sciences and chairman of Committee for Sectional and Imaging Anatomy. He did two conference reports: "Teaching Sectional Anatomy" and "Sexual Dimorphism of Central Sulcus in Chinese Cerebrum". And the Ph.D. Tang Yuchun and Zhang Zhonghe reported "The Construction of Chinese Standard Digital Brain Atlas Based on the Thin Sectional Histological Image Data" and "Normal Fetal Cerebral Cortex Development : A Study Using Post-mortem MRI", respectively.


The congress contained more than 120 academic reports, including gross anatomy, surgical anatomy, sectional and imaging anatomy, histology and embryology, neuroanatomy, regenerative medicine, anthropology, animal anatomy, forensic application anatomy and anatomy teaching and experiment technology. All in all, the participants did an in-depth exploration to human anatomy, histology, embryology and cell biology from the perspective of clinical application. It showed the direction of human anatomy, especially the clinical anatomy, and unprecedented opportunities for development.
